The City We Run is an ambitious project aimed at exploring the urban landscape of Omaha, Nebraska, by covering over 2,400 miles on foot. This initiative combines the art of running with a deep dive into the city's streets, revealing the unique architecture, history, and cultural nuances present in various neighborhoods.

As the team moves through the city, each mile offers a new perspective on the residents and their stories, portraying an authentic slice of life in Omaha. The runners become not just participants but also observers who document their experiences, interactions, and the community's vibrancy. This journey allows them to engage with locals, gather insights, and represent the heart of Omaha through their experiences.

The project also emphasizes the transformation of both the city and the team throughout their journey. Each mile conquered serves not only as a physical challenge but as an opportunity for personal growth and community connection. The interplay between the urban environment and the individual's journey creates a rich narrative, showcasing how running can bridge distances, foster understanding, and highlight the diversity that makes Omaha unique.

The Mile Zero collection was created to announce and celebrate the start of the project.

Goals:
Documentary Creation: The goal of this project is to produce a feature-length documentary that chronicles the experiences of a team of four dedicated runners as they traverse every street in Omaha. This documentary aims to shed light on the city's urban planning, socio-cultural dynamics, and individual stories woven into its neighborhoods. It’s as much about the individual stories of the team and their impact on their communities as it is a story about the city.

Impact:
Community Engagement: Throughout the project, "The City We Run" organized three community runs in collaboration with a local coffee shop, attracting over 50 participants in each event. These runs served as platforms for residents to engage with their city in a unique way, fostering a sense of belonging and shared experience. We followed that up with a City Run Club series to introduce people to different parts of the city they might not normally run.
Multimedia Documentation: The project captured its journey through various mediums, including video footage, photography, and design. By employing a diverse range of creative expressions, "The City We Run" effectively communicated the richness and complexity of Omaha's urban fabric, reaching audiences far beyond traditional documentary formats.
Sponsorship Management: district studio effectively managed sponsorships to cover costs associated with the project. By partnering with local businesses and organizations aligned with the project's ethos, These strategic partnerships not only enhanced the project's visibility and credibility but also fostered mutually beneficial relationships between the running community and local businesses like Fleet Feet Omaha, reinforcing a sense of interconnectedness within Omaha's commercial landscape.
Social Media Management: district studio launched and manages the social media accounts for The City We Run. We use social to amplify the project while supporting the local running community. We also designed social media templates to visualize project updates.
